Jesus, Son Of God.
1. Life and Teachings.Jesus is believed to have been born in Bethlehem around 4 to 6 BCE, according to Christian tradition. Raised in Nazareth, he began his public ministry around the age of 30. Jesus traveled throughout the region, spreading his teachings and miracles, emphasizing love, compassion, forgiveness, and the Kingdom of God. His teachings, often conveyed through parables, emphasized the importance of faith, repentance, and treating others with kindness and equality.
2. Miracles. Jesus is ascribed numerous miracles in the Bible, including healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, casting out demons, and even raising the dead. These acts were seen as demonstrations of his divine power and compassion.
3. Crucifixion and Resurrection. Jesus' arrest, trial, crucifixion, and resurrection form the focal point of Christian beliefs. He was crucified by the Roman authorities in Jerusalem around 30-33 CE. Christians view his death as a sacrificial offering for the redemption of humanity's sins. According to the Gospels, Jesus rose from the dead three days after his crucifixion, providing hope for eternal life and conquering death.
4. Son of God and Savior. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the promised Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. They regard him as the Savior who offers salvation and reconciliation with God through his sacrificial death and resurrection. This belief forms the core of Christian faith and shapes individual and communal relationships with God.
5. Christian Influence. Jesus' life and teachings have profoundly influenced history, culture, and religious practices worldwide. The four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—form a significant portion of the Christian New Testament, which documents Jesus' life, teachings, and acts. Christianity, with its diverse denominations, follows Jesus as the central figure of worship and the exemplar of moral guidance.
